In the lead up to the commencement of the ASEAN Economic Community, there has been a flurry of new competition laws passed.  Brunei and Myanmar passed their new competition laws in early 2015. In the second half of 2015, both Lao PDR and the Philippines passed their competitions laws.  All countries' laws prohibit anti-competitive agreements and abuse of dominance and provide for a merger regime.  Myanmar and Lao also address unfair trade practices.  Cambodia is expected to introduce their law by the end of 2015.

 

 

The MyCC has issued a Proposed Decision against four container depot operators and an IT service proficer for price fixing.  Depot Gate charges increased from RM5 to RM25 and a rebate of RM5 was offered to hauliers.  

 

 

 

Four professional bodies have dismantled their professional scale fees following a directive to do so by the MyCC.
